SUPER VISA
The Super Visa is a temporary visa given to parents and grandparents of a Canadian citizen or a permanent residents to come to Canada as a visitor. It is a multi-entry visa that provides multiple entries for a period up to 10 years. The key difference is that the Super Visa allows an individual to stay for up to two years at a time in Canada, while a 10-year multiple entry visa would only have a status period for each entry of six months only.
Parents and grandparents of Canadian permanent residents or citizens that wish to stay in Canada for a period of 6 months or less must instead apply for a visitor visa instead.
To be eligible for the Super Visa, an individual must be the parent or grandparent of either a citizen of Canada or a Canadian permanent resident and also must have a signed letter of invitation from the child/grandchild inviting them to Canada.
